Over the past decade, Atlas Copco has purchased five rental companies with each of the companies continuing to trade under their own name.
The companies’ management however, has evolved. A key aim is to ensure each company operates as a company within the Atlas Copco Group, using best practices and basic business elements within the specialty rental companies and customer centres making up what is now the Atlas Copco Speciality Rental Division.
“This has proven to be a highly successful formula. Atlas Copco Speciality Rental is growing not just in size, but in global reputation. When there is a challenging rental project, anywhere in the world, Atlas Copco is always a front runner,” a company statement said.
“For this reason the industry-focused independent rental companies have been rebranded; In the UK, Dundee-based Kolfor, for example, will now be known as Atlas Copco Kolfor. This will not just reinforce the link between Atlas Copco and Kolfor but also bring with it the recognised offshore rental expertise that has long been associated with Kolfor.
In the United States, Houston-based Prime Energy, with more than 30 years of Atlas Copco experience, was recently rebranded to Atlas Copco Prime Energy, meaning that their industrial customers will be served under the Atlas Copco brand name with the best service possible.”
Horst Wasel, divisional president, noted: “In global terms, we have to recognise that for industrial rental, Atlas Copco is more widely recognised than the independent companies that currently make up our speciality rental division. More locally, the company’s name plays its part in retaining and winning new business. By combining both names, we are reinforcing the fact that we are a specialist that offers the best equipment with the best expertise”.
Over the next two years, the aim is to firmly establish the Atlas Copco name in the specialty rental sector, he said.
“Rental is local and the key ingredients to a successful rental company are service – service - service, fleet management and business basics,” added Wasel.
