A state-of-the art multipurpose Australian-designed air tool that cleans up contaminated pipes and is simple to operate has been introduced in the UAE.

Launching the Air-Mate pellet launcher, Al Futtaim Auto and Machinery Company (Famco) said the product offered a trouble-free solution to the problem of contaminated utility pipes in homes and offices as well as having numerous industry applications including refrigeration, air conditioning, communications, automotive and food and beverages.

"We are pleased to introduce such a remarkable new product that will change the face of the maintenance service industry by offering a new and efficient method of pipe cleaning," Famco managing director Rolf Preisler said. "What was done in hours of laborious work can now be done in minutes."

Added Preisler: "Saving time and money is of interest to us all and I am sure that everyone will appreciate a product that ensures this and is so simple to use. Its affordable price makes it a smart investment for anyone in the service industry whether on a small or large scale."

An innovative product from Pneumatic Systems International of Australia, the Air-Mate pellet launcher is designed to dramatically reduce the cost of maintenance of pipes and hoses by eliminating the need for costly and tedious manual cleaning that may sometimes even require inconvenient dismantling of the piping system, Famco said.

"Unlike the conventional methods of pipe cleaning, the product utilises air pressure to propel a foam pellet through the piping virtually in seconds. Once propelled by the Air-Mate, the foam pellet, which is 20 per cent larger than the internal diameter of the hose, tube or pipe to be cleaned, cleans and wipes the internal surface. The contamination, whether it be dust or grease, is forced out of the open end."

The Air-Mate pellet launcher is available as an affordable kit, which contains a range of nozzles of various sizes. Also available is a selection of foam pellets of various sizes and textures to suit different applications. The advantage of the flexible foam pellets is that they can travel in systems of any shape whether it be through 90 degree angles, "T" joints, coils, "U'' bends or straight through valves. This enables piping systems of all shapes to be cleaned without the hassle of dismantling, explained Famco.

Available as an accessory for the launcher is a spooler attachment which can be used to draw lines through pipes, making it particularly handy in the communications sector, as telephone lines and electrical wires can be drawn in a matter of minutes just by pressing the trigger and it is easily done in occupied or unoccupied pipes, added the company.

Unlike other conventional cleaning methods, the launcher avoids the use, handling and disposal of expensive and often toxic chemicals and solvents.

Famco claims it is the first company in its industry in the Middle East to be awarded the ISO 9001 and more recently the ISO 14001 accreditations.

Famco, a member of the Al Futtaim Trading Group, one of the Gulf's largest and most successful business houses, has exclusive distribution rights for the Air-Mate pellet launcher.
