Abu Dhabi Medical Industries, popularly known as Amilab, has reported good business this year with major contracts from the UAE and Saudi Arabia including Burj Dubai and King Faisal University.
General manager Dr K Kesavan said Amilab was awarded or executed projects worth Dh16 million ($4.35 million) during the first six months of this year compared with projects worth Dh 11 million during the same period in 2007.
Its major current projects include ones for Adnoc worth Dh5.5 million, King Faisal University (Dh3.1 million) and Schlumberger (Dh1 million). Amilab is supplying lab furniture to all these projects. It is also supplying toilet partitions with honeycomb panels to Burj Dubai.
“We have recently added partitions for offices, showers and toilets using honeycomb panels and kitchen furniture to our product range,” he says.
In order to meet the growing demand, Amilab has expanded its facility by adding more machinery and manpower.
An ISO 9001:2000 company, it has built up a reputation as a local pioneer in the manufacture of laboratory, medical, dental, educational and other furniture such as safety cabinets, computer labs, fume cupboards, lockers and toilet cubicles. Its production facilities are located in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi.
It is a leader in the design, development, production, installation and servicing of furniture and fixtures for the industrial, healthcare and educational sectors.  It has huge patronage from its parent company - Al Mazroui Medical Group.
With its state-of-the-art production facility coupled with in-house R and D facilities and a stringent quality control system, Amilab says it is involved with projects in the entire Middle East, especially in Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Sudan, Libya and Yemen besides the UAE. It has now stepped into Saudi Arabia by signing a big contract with King Faisal University.
Amilab has sister concerns in Oman and Qatar and is contemplating establishing a presence in the remaining Gulf countries. It has also opened an office in the US.
