The temporary cooling plant

Rental Solutions & Services LLC (RSS), a global provider of air-cooled temporary power and cooling services, has successfully installed the Gulf’s largest temporary cooling plant in a single package at The Palm, Dubai.
Palm District Cooling, a district cooling provider in the Middle East, is committed to supplying its customers with a reliable cooling solution during the construction stage of The Crescent, The Lost World and The Atlantis Hotel at The Palm Jumeirah.
James Ellerton, projects development manager of Palm District Cooling, remarked: “We are very happy that RSS has been part of this project. They were able to install an extra 2,424 TR to their existing 5,252 TR air-cooled chiller package. They have completed this installation two days prior to the deadline. We need a partner which is reliable, flexible and understands our technical specifications. RSS continues to satisfy these requirements.”

The temporary chiller plant consists of 38 air-cooled chillers producing a total capacity of 7,676 TR at the customer’s design conditions. There are16 acousti-cally containerised generators ranging from 800 KVA to 1,500 KVA. Pre-insulated flexible rubber hoses certified to 10 bar are used as are a number of double regulating, non-return valves and isolation valves.
The system is designed to achieve an 8.8 deg C Delta T with a leaving water temperature of 5 deg C in ambient temperatures of 46 deg C.
Beneficiaries of the system are the Crescent Construction site, the Atlantis Hotel and the Lost World Theme Park.
