Delmon Poultry Company hopes to be more competitive in local and overseas markets with the installation recently of new cutting-up equipment for its processing section.

Other equipment will be imported from time to time as demand grows and faster processing methods need to be used, general manager Ebrahim Tadayyon said.
According to Tadayyon, Delmon has more than 80 per cent of the market in Bahrain for fresh whole chicken.
“Delmon is seeking diversification by opening a chain of restaurants and food-related businesses,” he said.
It operates its business through three sections, namely chicken processing, feed and chicks.
The chicken processing plant is situated in Hamala. The company has an agreement with 36 farmers under which they are provided with the feed as well as chicks a few days old. The farmers are required to breed and deliver them to the plant for processing after they are 33 days old and weigh 1.5 kg.
The feedmill plant is located in Mina Salman. Raw materials for the feed are imported from various international markets and the feed is a mix of 65 per cent yellow corn, 25 per cent soya bean and 20 per cent other grains.
The hatchery plant operates in Al Buhair. Tadayyon said it used to import eggs from Germany but with the Euro strengthening it began sourcing its requirements in various countries.
Delmon products are exported to Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar.
