Mindegia: introducing faster machines

Spain’s Juaristi, which is an exhibitor at the GI Fair, has announced it will launch soon a turning-milling boring centre that includes a rotary table allowing either turning or milling pieces up to 2,000 mm diameter and 5,000 kg in weight.

“While boring - machining centres can work up to 3 or 5 rpm on table rotation for positioning or contouring, this new machine is able to reach up to 200 rpm, which also enables turning operations. Thus one machine can do work that was earlier done by two or more machines,” said commercial director Jesus Mindegia.
Currently, Juaristi’s fastest selling products are planer-type boring machines and floor-type boring mills with constantly increasing automated solutions. The company’s Saudi agent is Alruqee Machine Tools Co Ltd.
In the past few years, the company introduced a boring-milling-machining centre in one machine. The boring machine comes with a rotary table and four pallets, an automatic tool changer, an automatic milling head with automatic attachment changers and in-process workpiece measuring and tool calibration. In most cases, all machine operations, milling, boring, tapping, drilling, facing, measuring etc can be accomplished in just one set-up in a single machine. The result is that the user saves time in handling and setting up and there is a high increase in productivity, said Mindegia.
Juaristi’s products have been used in prestigious projects and by high-profile customers including Airbus, ABB, British Airways, Rolls Royce, Voith Turbo, General Electric, Aker Kvaerner, Flowservce, L&T Komatsu, Heller and VA-RTech Hydro.
In markets where it is more active such as India, Germany, Italy and France, Juaristi has its own teams for sales and service. All the teams receive Juaristi training for years.
In other markets, Juaristi has agents who send their own service staff and they cooperate with Juaristi engineers for machine commissioning and providing after-sales service.
The company’s central warehouse is located in Spain. Some of its agents have warehouses and those that don’t receive their supplies directly from Juaristi.
The company has already exceeded the turnover meant for 2010. “Right now our strategy is to grow a little more in terms of size and production but focus more in supplying quality products  than just increasing figures,” said Mindegia.
Turnover has increased from 18 million euros in 2004 to 24 million euros in 2006. The company expects to touch 30 million euros this year.
Standing up to competition from Asian manufacturers was one of Juaristi’s main achievements, Mindegia says. “We have been able to set up in markets with a very high quality product at very reasonable prices, providing not just a simple machine, but an integral solution to customers’ requirements. We act like real partners of our customers, assisting also in studding and machining their workpieces.
“Our goal is not just selling machines, but providing machining solutions. Once we start a relationship with our customers, it lasts for years and most of them are repeat customers.”
