Bertling secures 5-year TCO contract

TCO and Bertling continue their successful cooperation

Transport solutions provider Bertling has secured a five-year logistics services contract with TengizChevroil (TCO) for delivery of materials to the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan.

The contract covers “continuous material supply” to Tengiz oil field as well as a digitisation program to improve operational efficiency. The firm has also been selected as freight partner for TCO’s Future Growth Project, which it said has been and still is the largest oil & gas project Bertling has ever been involved with.

“We would like to sincerely thank all our offices around the globe for their continuous efforts in handling the challenging operations for this project. Our sincere appreciation goes as well to our teams in Kazakhstan, who do a great job every day albeit in difficult situations caused by the Covid-19 lockdown in the country,” a spokesperson for Bertling said.

Earlier, as part of the Siemens Maisan project, which was awarded to Bertling in January 2020, it recently handled the shipments of a massive Siemens S-Gen5-2000H generator from Norfolk (US) and of a Siemens SGT5-4000 F Gas Turbine from Hamburg (Germany) to the POD in Umm Qasr (Iraq).

“The current restrictions caused by Covid-19 challenged the operations, which required a high amount of logistical coordination throughout three continents to ensure the timely delivery of the components with two identical vessel charter parties in a tight timeframe of only three weeks,” the company said.

The two generators and two turbines will be installed at a newly-constructed combined power cycle plant as part of Iraq’s re-electrification program. The power plant will be located in Maisan, south-western Iraq.
