Dr Al Kaabi: raising QCC’s profile

Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, the entity responsible for developing the quality infrastructure in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has been honoured with the ‘Kevin Holmes Award for Developing Excellence in People’ by the British Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA).This milestone took place during the LiftEx 2018 Exhibition and Gala Dinner in the presence of a significant number of the world’s lift equipment manufacturers, held last month.

QCC was granted the award in recognition of its pioneering role in developing the proficiency-testing programme for lifting equipment and lifting accessories and developing the necessary technical documents, and providing specialised training in the field of inspection, which has contributed significantly to improving the capacity of lifting equipment inspectors. This achievement will positively raise the level of safety and security in industrial, commercial and residential establishments where such equipment is used, the company said in a statement.

The Council was competing with many leading bodies in the field and reached the finals stage alongside two other British and Australian bodies, finally taking first place.

Earlier, in line with Abu Dhabi’s plans to contribute to digital transformation in users’ services, Abu Dhabi QCC facilitated the process of applying for Emirates Metrology Institute e-services with the launch of its easy-to-use Jawdah website.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Helal Humaid Al Kaabi, secretary-general of QCC, said: “This initiative aims to raise the profile of the state in competitive digital indicators at regional and global levels by facilitating procedures for users. These efforts reflect our leading role in the development of the quality infrastructure in Abu Dhabi.”
