Alien Technology, a leader in passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) products and services, displayed its tags, readers and services at the Las Vegas show of RFID World where it was a platinum sponsor.
The company showcased its Higgs-3 Integrated Circuit (IC), the top-performing Gen 2 RFID IC available. Featuring extended user memory and security enhancements, the new Higgs-3 IC is now available in two new inlays: the ALN-9640 Squiggle and the ALN-9662 Squiggle-SH. The new Squiggle is the Higgs-3 version of Alien’s classic, industry-standard, general-purpose tag, while the Squiggle-SH delivers Squiggle performance in a smaller form factor. These are the first in a series of new inlays that use the Higgs-3 IC. Over the coming months, Alien will roll out additional Higgs-3 based tags to complement its existing portfolio of Higgs-2 products.
Alien also exhibited its RFID reader line, including its new Intelligent Tag Radar (ITR) software, developed for its ALR-9900, ALR-9800 and ALR-8800 Enterprise-Class readers. ITR provides information about the velocity and position of tags, in addition to the contents of tag memory. Alien expects ITR capability to open new paths to ROI for RFID users and Alien channel partners.
Alien executives delivered two breakout speaker sessions. Scot Stelter, director of reader product marketing, participated in “RFID and the Consumer Experience — Industry Panel.” Victor Vega, director of tag and IC product marketing, hosted a break-out session on “Sensible Approaches to ePedigree Challenges.”
