The company guides customers through the selection and implementation of their colour choice

Sabic Innovative Plastics has launched its Expression 2009 palette which takes into account the latest trends in colours, effects, and textures.

“The Expression 2009 palette aims to help customers tap into the power of aesthetics to evoke emotions, achieve differentiation, and create instant brand recognition,” it said in a statement
“The company’s three worldwide Colour Innovation Centres and online ColorXpress service make it easy for customers to find or match the precise colour and effect for their applications. Its investment in the Expression programme and application development centres helps provide customers with innovative product solutions to help them deliver business success.”
Textures are a new dimension within the Expression 2009 collection. Six textures, such as the optical art energy of “who stole my glasses” and the organic appeal of “squashed bamboo,” add depth and interest without the need for paint.
“Combined with a colour or special effect from Sabic Innovative Plastics’ huge array of Visualfx resins, these textures can provide a unique look and feel while reducing system costs, the statement said.
Yvette Bogaert, manager of the European Colour Innovation Centre, remarked: “Our Expression programme, which began last year, offers colours and effects that reflect upcoming trends, based on our discussions and interactions with design and colour industry experts. Expression colours and textures are meant as an inspiration to customers to think creatively about their applications. Our investment in new aesthetic approaches – and the technical services to back them up – enables us to provide our customers with innovative product solutions.”
Expression 2009 features four trends collections which include Textures, Greens, Whites, and Something Else. These are available in a range of colours and Visualfx special effects resins.
Sabic Innovative Plastics’ Colour Innovation Centres in Bergen op Zoom (the Netherlands); Selkirk, New York (USA), and Shanghai (China) provide a wide range of design and technical expertise to guide customers through the selection and implementation of their colour choice. Customers who wish to work with the centres’ staff in person can request a facility visit. The company’s colour team works with the customer to explore different colours, effects, and design possibilities, and conduct on-the-spot colour matches.
Sabic Innovative Plastics’ Visualfx resins, including Lexan, Cycoloy, Geloy, Xylex, Xenoy, Valox, Noryl, and Cycolac, not only provide more than 50,000 dynamic colour variants, loadings, and derivatives, but also special effects such as diamond, marbling, sparkles, frost, smoke, and opalescence — some of which are unique in the global plastics industry. ColorXpress Services includes a library of 20,000 standard resin colours and offers custom matching to a sample in seven days or less. Based on customer needs, the Colour Innovation Centre in Europe develops up to 2,000 new custom colours each year.
Anticipating the upcoming year’s “hot” colors and styles, Sabic Innovative Plastics creates Expression collections 12 months in advance.
