Hot on the heels of a joint venture in Egypt, the world’s largest powder coatings manufacturer, Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings, is extending its investment in the Middle East.

In mid-January, the Dutch multinational took an important step in the development of its ME market plans with the launch of a new powder coatings factory in Dubai.
Rob Molenaar, Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings general manager comments: “After our rapid and successful penetration of Asia we are now focusing on Eastern Europe and the Middle East.  The inauguration of the Dubai Powder Coatings factory is our fourth factory opening in these regions in only two years.  With over 30 factories world wide, Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings continues to enjoy excellent growth and our expansion in Dubai demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our customers and our future development.”
Located in Jebel Ali, Dubai, the new site will offer a full range of services and powder products, including colour matching, rapid made-to-order products, a broad stock range and full sales and technical support.
“As the world’s biggest coatings company, and the world’s biggest powder supplier, we are looking forward to expansion in this key growth area as part of our global strategy” said Hanni Radwan, general manager.  “The Middle East market for powder coatings has been achieving 12 per cent growth every year in the region since 2003 and with more predicted growth in the future it’s easy to see why,” he adds.
