Oman's Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) has officially begun work on the establishment of the Ibri Industrial City in the Al Dhahirah governorate over a 10-million-sq-m area.

Work is currently under way to develop the masterplan for the industrial city through the appointed consultancy company. The detailed design work and tender documents for the implementation of Phase One are expected to be completed shortly. This will include infrastructure and service works, industrial workshops and basic facilities, said a  statement.

The new industrial city will boast a variety of industrial, commercial and service units such as light and medium industries, commercial area, industrial workshops and warehouses.

Governor of Al Dhahirah Sheikh Saif bin Hamiar Al Malik Al Shehhi emphasised that the Ibri Industrial City was being set up at an ideal time to create an integrated environment for the industrial sector in Al Dhahirah governorate in particular and the sultanate in general.

Madayn CEO Hilal bin Hamad Al Hasani pointed out that the new industrial city is a continuation of the government's efforts to boost economic development in the various governorates.
