Almajdouie Logistics has launched an independent digital platform aimed at meeting the needs of e-commerce and on-demand trucking customers in Saudi Arabia. mlcGO is a mobile app and web-based solution that enables drivers and shippers to seamlessly connect, matching requirements with availability to provide faster and more efficient service.

“Our new independent digital platform, mlcGO, is designed to meet the needs of e-commerce and on-demand trucking customers in Saudi Arabia. It enables drivers and shippers to seamlessly connect, matching requirements with availability to provide faster and more efficient service,” Almajdouie CEO Baheej Al Biqawi said.

The mlcGO app can be downloaded from digital distribution platforms including the Apple App  Store and Google Play. The interface enables shippers to enter their cargo details, including size and type, pick-up and delivery location. The app then outsources jobs to registered drivers in close proximity.

To ensure high standards are maintained at all times, particularly in terms of quality assurance, mlcGO has a stringent driver onboarding process. Drivers and their vehicles must undergo a verification process, which is validated by a back office operational team, before they are accepted into the mlcGO driver community.

The platform also has a ranking system that enables users and drivers to rate each other. Reliable drivers move up the rankings, while less reliable drivers will be rehabilitated or have their services terminated.

The company’s near future aim is to help drivers maximise their vehicles’ available cubic metre capacity while running between different destinations, enabling them to take on partial truckloads from various clients at once. As the service is provided on a pay per use rather than a pay per truck basis, it increases drivers’ earning potential and reduces customers’ costs.

mlcGO is also focused on e-commerce solutions, starting with fulfilment. Its goal is to have a number of micro e-commerce fulfilment centres based in urban areas around the kingdom. These will compliment larger facilities operated by e-commerce giants, such as Amazon, expanding their reach to a greater number of locations andz helping to ensure same day delivery to customers.

The ability to trace shipments is a priority for modern customers. Accordingly, cargo sent via mlcGO is traceable from end-to-end and users can watch as the driver approaches the delivery point. An inclusive insurance policy ensures that cargo is covered in the unlikely event it is damaged while in transit.

mlcGO operates as an independent company under Almajdouie Logistics. While it is still a relatively new concept, there is no doubt it will play a key role in the future of the road transport industry.
