Manitowoc reported a successful show at this year’s Vertikal Days in England in June where the company introduced its new Potain Hup 32-27 and Grove GMK5150.

Visitors at the event also had the opportunity to see a range of Manitowoc cranes alongside the Hup 32-27 and Grove GMK5150, including the GMK3060, the GMK6300L, the RT540E and the new tower crane cab equipped with the Crane Control System (CCS). The company also presented the VIAB turbo clutch and integrated retarder, launched in 2015.

The Hup 32-27 has a maximum capacity of 4 tonnes while it can lift 1 tonne at its jib end of 32 m. There are two footprint options, 4 m x 4 m or 3.5 m x 4.42 m while the crane’s innovative and dynamic unfolding movement allows it to set up in even the most restricted spaces. In addition, an integrated leveling system allows for positioning on slopes up to 8 per cent or over height differentials of up to 25 cm. The most impressive features include its compact dimensions with a choice of two working heights along with enhanced operator comfort and ease of operation.

The 150-tonne capacity Grove GMK5150 features a 51 m boom with a maximum counterweight of 45 tonnes. The five-axle crane is also powered by a single engine, reducing the overall weight and allowing it to carry more counterweight. In addition, the crane benefits from the laser-hybrid welding technology in place at the Wilhelmshaven plant, which increases welding precision and creates booms that both weigh less and perform better. Not displayed but launched with this model is the GMK5150L with a 60 m boom.

Both models feature a 24-tonne counterweight configuration and allow up to 16.5-tonne axle loads.
