Frances's GL Events is bringing Texwork, its international event for composite materials, to the UAE this year, only the second time it is being held outside Europe.

The 17th Texwork exhibition and conference is scheduled to be held at Expo Centre Sharjah on November 22 and 23.

The first time the event was held outside Europe was in Istanbul in 2015. The move by GL Events, a worldwide provider of integrated solutions and services for events, is aimed at getting closer to growing markets.

Industry observers say that given the wide range of composites usage from architectural fields such as solar protection and tensile structures to marine applications and industrial uses such as in water treatment and several other areas, the show will be a boon not only for the immediate target area of the Middle East and North Africa but also for the growing markets of the Indian Subcontinent and Central Asian countries.

“This is the first time an international composites and advanced materials exhibition is being held in the GCC, and perhaps the entire region. It is coming at the right time too, as architects and engineers have increasingly started using composites due to their attractive physical properties as well as unbeatable light weight,” said Benoit Beylier,  the deputy managing director for sales and marketing, GL Events.

“This is a great development for Expo Centre Sharjah. Ever since we decided to open doors for external organisers, we have seen great interest from local, regional as well as international events organisers.

We are looking forward to having major players like GL to organise their shows in Sharjah,” said Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah, UAE.

He added that the sophisticated facilities of Expo Centre, its proximity to Dubai, and the strong industrial base of Sharjah and the country will provide a fertile ground for exhibitions to take off.

Texwork 2016 will feature various solutions and systems, machines and accessories for technical membranes. The fair will provide a platform for networking and a huge offer of the main partners of Serge Ferrari out of the technical membrane business.

The region’s growing economic sectors will ensure that there is great demand for composite materials, with Texwork 2016 catering to all requirements such as welding; cutting and sewing machines; accessories; software; systems and solutions for solar protection; acoustic solutions; facades; lightweight architecture and modular structures.

Texwork is a private event and an initiative of Serge Ferrari, the French manufacturing group which is a leader in the flexible composite material sector. GL Events is a world-class provider of integrated solutions and services for events operating across the three main market segments – congresses, conferences and conventions; cultural, sports and political events; and trade fairs and exhibitions for professionals and the public.
