Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) recently took part in Power Gen International 2015, one of the world›s largest power generation events held at Las Vegas (US) as part of its promotion campaign for the inaugural Dubai Solar Show in October.

The Dubai Solar Show will be held alongside the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (Wetex 2016) from October 4 to 6 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Dewa team gave presentations on the Dubai Solar Show and the UAE’s progress with solar energy.

The delegation reviewed a number of pilot solar energy projects in Dubai, particularly the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and its construction progress, opportunities for investors, important features of the Innovation Centre and the Research and Development Centre (R&D) and the solar-testing facility, said a statement from Dewa.

The delegation also outlined the advantages of participating in the Dubai Solar Show, as it coincides with the global Wetex, which will secure quick growth and presence of international delegations specialising in renewable energy.

"We are keen to participate in various events related to our work with the aim of exchanging knowledge and expertise in the field of energy, especially clean and renewable energy that we focus on at Dewa," remarked Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and chief executive of Dewa.

Events such as Power Gen International provide important opportunities to review Dubai›s current and future projects, he stated.

The event attracted around 22,000 power professionals from 90 countries and 200 of the industry’s top speakers and had 50 educational conference sessions. There were as many as 1,400 exhibiting companies with networking events and technical tours being held.
