SR Technics, owned by Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Development Company and provider of technical solutions to airlines, has achieved several contract wins this year.

The Zurich-headquartered company is implementing a five-year deal granted by Abu Dhabi-based Royal Jet to maintain, repair and overhaul their CFM56-7B engine fleet. The CFM56-7B engines are in service on Royal Jet’s six luxurious Boeing Business Jet (B737-700 IGW) aircraft, which are used by the carrier’s prestigious VIP guests.

Work on the engines will be carried out at SR Technics’ world-renowned facilities at Zurich Airport, Switzerland.

Among the contracts signed this year by SR Technics was one with Helvetic Airways for servicing of the airline’s fleet of seven Embraer 190 aircraft, the first of which the airline took delivery of last December.

SR Technics will provide maintenance support for component services and wheels and brakes, along with line maintenance, call-out support and specialist tooling provision.

In another win, SR Technics and Germania Fluggesellschaft GmbH entered an exclusive agreement for engine services. Valued at $180 million, the agreement covers engine services for Germania’s fleet of Airbus A319 and A321 as well as Boeing 737-700 planes. The engines involved are CFM56 series -5B and -7B produced by Snecma (Safran) and GE, the world’s leading supplier of commercial aircraft engines. Under the terms of the contract, the engine services will be carried out at SR Technics’ facilities in Zurich, where it has extensive CFM56 series maintenance, repair and overhaul experience and know-how. The agreement between SR Technics and Germania strengthens their long-standing and close relationship. It also marks an important milestone in SR Technics’ mission to reinforce its proven ability to provide customers with competitive, customised and innovative solutions. By choosing to use SR Technics engine servicing capabilities, Germania benefits not only from benchmark services and quality, but also short turnaround times and close customer proximity.

SR Technics received an order to perform seven major cabin modifications for Scandinavian Airlines, the flag carrier of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The modifications are for the airline’s Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft. The $15 million one-year contract covers all the design engineering and certification, material provisioning as well as installation work. The modifications involve the replacement of Business, Premium Economy, and Economy class seats. In addition, the In-flight Entertainment (IFE) and in-seat power systems will be replaced. The new IFE system Zodiac Inflight Innovations’ Rave solution in combination with Panasonic Avionics’ Global Communication Suite (GCS) enables wireless communication in the cabin. Furthermore, new galleys and stowage will be installed along with moodlight cabin-dim lights. As well as the modification work, SR Technics is required to undertake a heavy maintenance check (C-check) and repainting of one of the aircraft. All the work will be carried out at SR Technics’ Centre of Excellence in Zurich, with completion planned for fall 2015.
