SDV opens base in Dafza

SDV-UAE LLC, one of the largest transport and logistics providers in the region, has opened its new corporate and warehousing facility in the Dubai Airport Free Zone (Dafza).

The multi-function operator’s building includes an office and a 2,220 sq m warehouse with controlled temperature and humidity. The warehouse features biometric access, 24-hour onsite security, CCTV surveillance, two fast-action loading doors and storage systems.

Agility firm gains ISO mark

AGILITY’S GCC Services subsidiary in Basra, Iraq has received the ISO 9001 certification, making it the first integrated remote-site services company to be ISO 9001 certified in the city.

The certificate was awarded to GCC Services with Ukas accreditation by Bureau Veritas Certification, Dubai.

The services relate to site camps and include facilities management, catering and life support, and functions such as human resources, administration, procurement and warehousing.

Terminal to be built in Duqm

A MAJOR bulk liquid berths terminal project coming up at the Port of Duqm in Oman will be implemented in two stages.

The first stage involves dredging and reclamation and building a marine/jetty structure while the second entails topside facilities.

The authorities are now looking for a competent EPC contractor to handle the first stage of the project.

Siemens equips terminal

SIEMENS Logistics and Airport Solutions has equipped the new cargo terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai World Central (DWC), with a state-of-the-art material handling system.

The new home of Emirates SkyCargo’s freighter fleet was successfully started up in several phases.

“Our partnership with Siemens is a testimony to our commitment to create and deliver industry-leading air cargo solutions,” said Nabil Sultan, Emirates divisional senior vice president, cargo.

In its initial stage, the new cargo terminal is capable of handling 700,000 tonnes per year.
