Airbus workshop held

AIRBUS, in partnership with Emirates Airline, held its newest Little Engineer A380 workshop at the Emirates Engineering Centre. The two-day event welcomed 100 students, introducing them to the world of aviation.

Emphasising the importance of robotics in aerospace, the workshop saw students aged between 13 and15 focusing on identifying aircraft parts and enhancing understanding of aircraft manufacturing and assembling processes while learning programming skills. Students then assembled an A380 model, programming it to be able to manoeuvre on the tarmac, ready for take-off.

 

Oman eyes packaging role

OMAN’S Sohar Port and Freezone plans a bigger role in the packaging sector as its petrochemical industries expand to attract downstream plastics manufacturers to the hub ahead of the construction of the sultanate’s dedicated agricultural terminal.

Sohar officials delivered this message at the ArabPlast 2015 and GPCA PlastiCon 2015 trade shows held in Dubai.

Edwin Lammers, executive commercial manager of the hub, said the terminal’s aim was to attract new investment in food and food processing and create “a cluster than can feed the region.” 

 

Motorcity delivers vehicles

MOTORCITY, the sole distributor of Volvo and Citroen cars in Bahrain, has delivered Volvo XC60 and Citroen C-Elysee cars to Trans Gulf Car Rental.

Dr Bijan Majidi, general manager of Motorcity, and Sooraj Kumaran, fleet sales manager, handed over the keys to Jojo K Tharian at Motorcity’s Sitra showroom.

The number of vehicles delivered was not disclosed.

 

Gulfex holds SCM event

GULF Extrusions (Gulfex), a  manufacturer of extruded aluminium products, recently held  in partnership with the American University of Sharjah, a workshop on supply chain management (SCM) for its senior management team.

The company said the objective was to build a strong learning base in the management of the flow of goods for its employees and contribute towards human resources in the field.
