The lecture was conducted by Dr Sharifa A Hameed Swar from the Batelco Care Centre for Family Violence Cases and was aimed at enabling employees to combat any work-related stress, bolster their mental preparedness to meet any challenges and strengthen productivity levels. It focused on issues faced by those working at the plant and offices, and also included, healthy practices such as breathing techniques and exercises that can be adopted in the right way to relieve stress and anxiety, thus boosting employee performance.

Commenting on the lecture, chief operations officer Isa Al Ansari said: “Our employees are rightly regarded as our chief assets, and their welfare remains our primary concern. Hence, we remain strongly committed towards providing a safe, healthy and stress-free work environment, which will boost motivation and employee performance and in turn, increase overall productivity. Alba’s Healthcare Centre has successfully implemented programmes aimed at employee health and in the future also we will continue to invest towards the betterment of our employees through various educational and practical programmes.”

An interactive session held on the occasion was a huge success, the company said, adding that employees were keen to acquire knowledge on the means and methods to combat stress and situations that cause anxiety at the work place. The company plans to conduct many more sessions on similar lines to ensure that employees remain better informed and better able to meet any challenges and achieve a healthy performance.

Alba once again launched the Heat Stress Management Programme for the months of July and August to ensure employees remain better informed about practical measures needed to be taken for enjoying a comfortable and safe summer.

It was the third consecutive year during which the programme has been introduced across the organisation. It defines the accountabilities of each management level in preventing heat stress, sets guidelines in advising new recruits and provides measures for applying procedures and practices without any deviation.

In addition, heat level indicators along with the daily heat stress index present some helpful tips that employees can use to protect themselves during the summer.

In other news, Aluminium Bahrain concluded a month-long annual summer training programme with a graduation ceremony held at the Alba plant.

The programme was aimed at providing children of Alba’s employees who are high school graduates, university students and trainees of vocational institutes a platform for gaining a practical understanding of work life as well as a chance to acquire professional work experience during the summer break.

Alba, meanwhile, announced a donation of BD10,000 ($26,000) to the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS).
