Sumaiya receives her award

SUMAIYA Yaseen Al Oraifi, assistant manager, learning and development at Ebrahim K Kanoo, a pioneer in Bahrain’s automotive sector, received the Distinctive Training Personnel Award at the sixth Vocational Training Award ceremony held by the Ministry of Labour.

She was presented with the award by Jameel Bin Mohammed Al Humaidan, Bahrain’s Minister of Labour and chairman of the High Council for Vocational Training, at the ceremony that took place at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain.

Sumaiya, holder of an MBA degree and other professional certificates in the field of development and training, was described as an expert in personal and career development with 11 years’ experience in human resources. She won the award for her role in developing distinctive training programmes for Ebrahim K Kanoo’s Human Resource Department.

Meanwhile, Bahrain-based RRC Middle East (RRCME) was called in by Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) in April to help manage health and safety during the 46-day total turnaround of its Sohar refinery and petrochemical plant for major essential maintenance.

RRCME managed safety at the site, providing 10 competent oil and gas HSE practitioners to cover the vast areas and numerous maintenance activities required.

The RRCME team’s duties included providing safety induction training for the whole workforce, safety inspections and checks, risk assessment, enforcing adherence to PPE requirements, gas testing, supervision of critical tasks and providing a support service to the emergency team.
