The company’s plant in Jafza

MICRO Automation Industries, a Dubai-based manufacturer, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) for its range of cost-effective, microprocessor embedded power protection products.

Celebrating its 10th year in Jafza, the facility occupies an area of 1,100 sq m and serves as a hub for engineering, prototyping and development of products. The company began operations in 2001 and enjoyed 52 per cent revenue growth year-on-year in 2011 and an average of 56.8 per cent growth every year since 2007.

Its products and solutions are classified into four categories namely Powermatic, Genmatic, Voicematic and Datamatic. The product range covers more than 85 models conforming to various country specifications and it recently developed an intelligent socket protection solution, a new concept of multiple power protection of electronic and electrical appliances.

Al Hajjaj said the new plant reflected the company’s keenness to be at the forefront of power protection technology, adding that the flagship product Powermatic continues to be recognised as a leading power protection solution locally and internationally.

Micro Automation has been exporting semi-finished and finished products and technical know-how. Currently 67.8 per cent of Micro Automation’s products go to overseas markets excluding the GCC region, 13 per cent go to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar and the balance to the UAE market.

Micro Automation established a manufacturing unit in Belgium in 2009.

As well as manufacturing Powermatic products, the company is developing the smart control system and power device aimed at reducing electricity demand during peak hours. The company says the innovation will help reduce electricity demand during peak hours.

Micro Automation was ranked number one in Innovation for 2011 by the Dubai SME 100. It was also recognised as the “Technology Company of the Year” at the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2008, for its achievements in the fields of engineering design, development, prototyping and manufacturing. In 2008, the company received the “Best Hardware Product” for Powermatic, at the Arab Golden Chip Award 2008, in Beirut. The company also received strong reviews for Powermatic at CeBIT 2007 in Hanover, Germany; and was the winner of the Windows Editor’s Choice award in 2006 and 2008.
