Rapsican wins several US contracts

Rapiscan Systems has announced that it has been awarded multiple Exploratory Research Programme (ERP) contracts by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO).

By conducting transformational research and development initiatives, DNDO’s objective is to enlist thought leaders to advance the countrys nuclear materials detection capabilities.

All of the contracts focus specifically on detecting shielded nuclear material. Specifically, the company has been charged with developing a Liquefied Noble gas detector (in collaboration with Yale University), a threshold activation detector, a human portable system and an aircraft inspection solution.

Rapiscan Systems, a division of OSI Systems Inc, is a leading global supplier of security inspection solutions utilising X-ray and gamma-ray imaging, and advanced threat identification techniques such as neutron and diffraction analysis.

In other company developments, Rapiscan Systems was awarded a contract to provide a state-of-the-art Eagle(R) Rail Inspection Scanner and associated construction and civil works to an Eastern European customer.

Rapiscan Systems’ line of Eagle cargo and vehicle inspection systems are used by customs agencies, military organisations and homeland security worldwide because they provide outstanding image quality and threat detection, while maximising the operational effectiveness of customers, the company said.

Eagle cargo and vehicle inspection systems use proprietary transmission X-ray technology.
