UAE-based Al Shirawi Infrastructure Construction has achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification thus becoming the first infrastructure construction company certified by British Standards Institution (BSI) in the region against the 2015 edition of the standard.

A specialist in utility infrastructure development and accompanying underground works, Al Shirawi said it caters to power distribution, water conveyance and mechanical and telecommunication network.

The ISO certification was completed over a period of five months and involved over 24 sessions to define critical processes, four days of internal audit and four sessions of management review meeting. In addition to this, checks were conducted by three internal auditors and BSI performed a two-stage stage audit to ensure compliance.

To mark this milestone, a special ceremony was held at Al Shirawi Infrastructure Construction offices in Dubai Silicon Oasis in the presence of CEO Navin Valrani and general manager Walid Aaraj and senior BSI officials including Ahmad Al Khatib, the general manager for assurance (Middle East & Africa), Mathew John, the business development manager (MEA). The event was also attended by other eminent members of the Al Shirawi fraternity, including Krishna Kumar, the general manager for quality and business excellence, who led the charge for the certification.

Lauding the Al Shirawi team for their hard work in getting the ISO, Al Khatib said: “At BSI, we are committed to helping an organisation adopt excellent businesses practices. This certificate is proof that Al Shirawi Infrastructure Construction is a customer-oriented company and has in place well-defined processes to protect their interests.”
