Seatrade Maritime Middle East (SMME)

The fundamentals of the crude oil tanker market, the pattern of supply growth, and the factors influencing demand will be discussed at a key conference in Dubai. The eighth edition of the biennial Seatrade Maritime Middle East (SMME) exhibition and conference, which takes place in Dubai, is organising a conference dedicated to the dynamic and rapidly growing tanker sector. Part of the Dubai Maritime Week, Seatrade Tanker Middle East, takes place on November 1 and is being supported by the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners, Intertanko, with managing director Katharina Stanzel, moderating the event. According to Clarkson Research, a leading provider of data and market intelligence for the global shipping and offshore oil and gas industries, tanker fleet capacity took two decades to double to its current size of 540 million deadweight tonnage (dwt), witnessing average volume growth of 2.2 per cent per annum, in combined crude and products trade. However, the current surge in tanker fleet capacity, was generated during a long period of low oil prices and has recorded an increase of 6.5 per cent since early 2015.

11th Annual GPCA Forum

November 27-29

The Annual GPCA Forum will gather local and global leaders across every aspect of the energy industry to discuss, debate and chart strategies that will impact the sector’s future. Hosted by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), this year’s conference will commence with speeches from Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), and Amin H Nasser, president and chief executive officer of Saudi Aramco. Over the past decade, the Annual Forum – GPCA’s flagship event – has not only become a key feature in the global chemical industry agenda, but also a crucial knowledge sharing and networking platform for regional and global stakeholders. In 2015, over 2,000 members of the international chemical community gathered together in Dubai to celebrate the achievements of the petrochemical industry in the Arabian Gulf region and 10 years of the Annual Forum, which have become a key feature in the global chemical industry agenda.

Materials Handling & Logistics Exhibition and Conference

November 28-29

The latter part of 2016 will see the launch of the premiere Materials Handling & Logistics Exhibition and Conference from November 28-29 at the Park Hyatt, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The show covers the profiles of intralogistics, warehousing, supply chain, ports, ports equipment and related products and services. The largest gathering for the industry of its kind in Saudi Arabia, it will be the only focused platform where the entire industry will meet to share and discuss the latest upcoming projects within the region from small and medium enterprises to larger companies, a much broader audience will gather under one roof. 

The organiser of the event is Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions (Ace) ACE, which has added new titles in partnership with Messe Frankfurt.

SIAL Middle East

Global food innovation, food security and the latest industry trends will headline the calendar of events at a major trade show in Abu Dhabi in December.

Saudi International Motor Show

December 11-15


Saudi International Motor Show – the longest automotive exhibition in the Kingdom – will be held from December 11 to 15. Leading names in the automotive industry will be presenting their latest car models. 

Saudi Arabia has placed development of a domestic automotive industry at the center of an ambitious industrial diversification strategy, and named the auto sector as one of five priority industries in a national industrial cluster development strategy.

IDEX AND NAVDEX 2017

Top experts and specialists will present latest research and share knowledge on many regional and global defence and security issues at two major defence events to be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, next year.

The higher organising committee of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (Idex 2017) and the Naval Defence Exhibition and Conference (Navdex 2017) recently held its sixth meeting to discuss preparations by specialised committees to host the leading events in Abu Dhabi. 

Staff Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Khalfan Al Mazrouei, head of the organising committee, said: “Both events will provide an important platform for local defence industries to gain a valuable experience and develop the defence sector.”
