Micco building Kizad base


Al Mazroui International Cargo Company (Micco) is building a new logistics business centre at Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) on a plot of 30,000 sq m.


It will cater to Micco’s temperature-controlled storage facilities, bulk storage open yards, distribution services and a service centre for the trucking fleet.


Built in three phases, Phase 1 will have an investment of Dh35 million ($9.5 million). It will be fully operational by January 2017.

 


     
UAE opts for TIR system


UAE customs authorities are set to introduce a global road transport system which dramatically accelerates the movement of goods across frontiers.


The TIR (International Road Transport) System, which slashes time trucks spend at customs controls, becomes operational by the end of the year.


The new system is seen as an important step forward in boosting trade and transport links with neighbouring states

 

 

Etihad Cargo’s moves

 

Etihad Cargo, the freight division of Etihad Airways, has launched a new service in conjunction with the World Cargo Alliance (WCA) and Worldwide Information Network (WIN), the IT provider.


The platform, first of its kind in the cargo industry, provides special rates for selected origins and destinations on the Etihad Cargo network. It applies to WCA members who are also members of Etihad Cargo’s loyalty programme CargoConnect and use the WIN e-platform for bookings. 


Meanwhile, Etihad Cargo has launched a cargo-only service from Abu Dhabi to Maya Maya Airport, Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

 

 

Mercator acquires Catapult


Mercator, a solutions provider to the travel, transportation, and logistics industry, has acquired Catapult International, a technology-enabled solutions provider for freight forwarders, shippers, and carriers worldwide.


Catapult retains its management and brand under its new name: Catapult, a Mercator company.
