A production facility of Saudi American Glass

SAUDI American Glass (SAG), a leading processor of architectural high-performance flat glass in Middle East and part of the Glass LLC subsidiary of Dubai Investments, has announced it has won new projects valued in excess of SR70 million ($19.05 million) across Saudi Arabia.

Dubai Investment said the latest business wins reinforce SAG’s reputation as the premier glass processing company in the kingdom.

The new projects include the Tharawat Al Mashaer Development in Makkah, Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Centre, Renal Failure Centre in Riyadh, Al Obeikan & Elegance Towers, Al Rajhi Hotel, General Audit Bureau HQ in Riyadh, new commercial towers in Makkah, Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Al Khobar, a 5-Star Hotel in Jeddah and universities in Dammam, Najran, Jizan, Madinah, Hail, Tabuk and Qassim.

Over 130,000 sq m of SAG’s K-Lite high-performance glass in various colours are being used in these projects. The K-Lite high-performance glass offers high strength resistance against stress and wind flex, and also offers protection in the case of breakage.

Rizwanullah Khan, executive president of SAG, said: “Over the years, Saudi American Glass has won an excellent portfolio of projects, which has further cemented its credibility as a trusted supplier of top-quality glass products in the region. Saudi Arabia is a key growth market and the company’s reputation for quality and service helps it maintain a high demand for its exclusive products.”

In a step that is set to further leverage its market leadership, SAG recently finalised an agreement with UK-based Smartglass International to become its exclusive Middle East partner for privacy switchable and electronically tintable glasses. The technology allows instant privacy at the flick of a switch.

The innovative product, which is currently enhancing environments in more than 33 countries across six continents, has a huge latent demand – particularly in healthcare and hotel projects in Saudi Arabia and will go a long way in building SAG’s market leadership.

The new glasses offer the perfect blend of privacy and freedom and eliminate the need for curtains/ blinds. These can be used in partition screens, windows, roof-lights and doors, projection screens, security and teller screens.

In the recent past, the architectural high-performance flat glass market in the Middle East has grown steadily. Rampant construction across the GCC, in particular Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, is fuelling demand for flat glass products. In particular, there is heightened demand for solar control glass and electronically-tintable glass that can block sunlight.

SAG, established in 1978, supplies numerous tempered, strengthened and laminated varieties of glass under the K-Lite brand. Saudi American Glass is the region’s first and one of the largest Middle Eastern glass manufacturers, annually supplying more than 3 million m of glass.

Glass LLC, the first glass holding company in the Middle East, is dedicated to meeting the growing needs of the regional glass industry. Glass LLC incorporates five subsidiaries. As well as SAG, they are Emirates Glass LLC, one of the largest processors of architectural high-performance glass in the region;
Emirates Float Glass, one of UAE’s first integrated glass manufacturing and processing facilities in Abu Dhabi.

Lumiglass Industries, makers of automotive bullet resistance and architectural laminated glass products, and Emirates Insolaire, which produces a first-of-its-kind coloured, energy-generating solar glass in the world.
