Siemens detectors cut false alarms

The new Magic PDM-IXx12/T and PDM-IXx18/T dual motion detectors

The new Magic PDM-IXx12/T and PDM-IXx18/T dual motion detectors offer reliable detection of intruders and high false alarm immunity. Their performance is based on an improved version of Siemens’ Matchtec algorithm, which combines passive infrared (PIR) and microwave (MW) channels to make extraordinarily accurate decisions on motion within their detection zone.

Intelligent processing routines in the enhanced Matchtec algorithm provide high detection reliability and false alarm immunity. The algorithm analyses the relative strength of the IR and MW signals received from a moving object in order to make sound decisions. It is even possible to use multiple detectors in close proximity to each other, since the algorithm reduces interference between the MW modules. This increases flexibility in selecting the installation site.

The detectors have a future-proof design. Compared to earlier models, they can withstand higher MW radiation and field strengths. As a result, they comply with the new, significantly more demanding CE regulations that have come into force in June 2014.

The detectors, developed by the Siemens Security Products business unit, are suitable for both home and commercial environments and perform well even under harsh conditions, such as in rooms with rapid and extreme temperature fluctuations that can create false alarms.

The detectors feature a modern, slim design and can thus be installed unobtrusively even in rooms where an attractive appearance is important. The 12 m version can also be flush-mounted. The same bracket is used for mounting on walls and ceilings, which facilitates installation and storage.
