Albawardi strides in manufacturing

The group’s metal alloy products are targeted for exports to leading auto makers including BMW

Manufacturing is helping Albawardi Group boost Saudi Arabia’s volume of home-made goods and augment the national economy through exports and the ancillary industries it supports.

The company is well known for supplying steel products, metal alloys and wood products and its products have found markets locally and beyond the GCC region.

Albawardi Steel Industries commenced business in 1993 as a coil service centre. It has since grown to become one of the country’s largest centres for flat products and slit ferrous and non-ferrous coils in Saudi Arabia, diversifying into structural steel and plate fabrication.

It is also a major supplier to the construction, electricity, transport, oil and gas and industrial sectors and is closely associated in the nation’s rise to industrial hub status.

“Years of experience has led the company to expand into downstream industries. It’s now fully integrated production units produce a wide range of products and services,” says a company spokesman.

“Annual production exceeded 300,000 tonnes and with further expansion going on right now we will be able to top the 500,000 tonnes soon. Albawardi Steel Industries’ professionalism, innovation and precision are recognised by customers who benefit from its consistent excellence in quality and service.

“The company has attained ISO 9001-2008 and ISO14001-2004 certification to ensure that consistency of quality products and services are maintained all the time.”

WIDE-RANGING PRODUCTS

Among products it supplies are slit or sheared steel coils in black, galvanised, stainless, electro-plated steel and silicon steel as well as a very diverse product group including pre-painted corrugated steel sheets, nuts and bolts and door hinges, shovels and stainless steel sinks.

The company designs and manufactures machines such as asphalt cutters, mini-earthmoving equipment, plate compactors, concrete vibrators and cement smoothing machines. It also makes wheel barrows and gas cylinder trolleys as well as ERW pipes and tubes.

It has structural steel and plate fabrication facilities that have been approved by Saudi Aramco, Sabic and the Royal Commission of Jubail & Yanbu.

METAL ALLOYS

Albawardi Metal Alloys has been operating since 1993 from its Dammam plant where it maintains state-of-the-art smelting facilities for high-grade recycled aluminum, copper and stainless steel.

The company’s environmentally sound induction, rotary, crucible and reverberator furnaces produce high-quality alloys in ingots, cubes and sows. These include automobile castings from aluminium ingots, as well as copper base ingots suitable for fasteners, pumps and impellers and ornamental applications.

Albawardi Metal Alloys is ISO 9002 accredited and maintains the highest international standards in manufacturing and quality control, the company says.

“Albawardi Metal Alloys is considered an important partner and support industry for local casting factories and a pioneer in the export of alloys to the automotive industries in Germany and Japan.

FAMILIAR ROUTE

The company took a familiar root to manufacturing beginning first in trading. In 1957 Mohammed and Abdulrahman Albawardi entered into a partnership that evolved into one of Saudi Arabia’s foremost merchant houses.

Today the group has a branch network covering Saudi Arabia and GCC countries and employing over 2,000 professional staff whose skills and abilities are fundamental to its success. Although the primary focus remains Saudi Arabia and the neighboring Gulf states, Albawardi interests and operations extend across the globe.

The group has four main areas of activity: industry, trading, services and investment. Albawardi Group and its subsidiaries have been recognised through numerous awards and citations from international brand principals, industry groups and governmental bodies.
