The GPIC plant in Bahrain

BAHRAIN-based Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has announced it has received a certificate from the International Fertiliser Association (IFA) for protection and sustainability.

This follows the completion of a two-phase evaluation by Norwegian company DNV GL according to the principles of protection and sustainability of the International Fertiliser Association.

GPIC president Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery said the company was committed to and followed rigorous procedures in all issues related to work safety, security and management of products, and had strengthened its goals of sustainable development along with key performance indicators and targets.

Dr Jawahery also pointed out that prudent use of the latest management systems standards was proving to be one of the most effective tools used by the company to pursue its journey of continuous improvement.

The company has become the first in the Gulf region to have completed all the requirements of the British Institute of Standards and to be recognised as worthy of PAS-99, the world’s first specification for integrated management systems.

In other GPIC news, the company received recently the Saudi Arabian Award for Environmental Management.

Established in December 1979 as a joint venture between GCC member states, GPIC is equally owned by the Government of Bahrain, Sabic of Saudi Arabia and Petrochemical Industries Company of Kuwait.
