Babcock Borsig Service Arabia has signed its first digitalisation contract with Saudi Tabreed Operations and Maintenance Company for analysis and optimisation of the operation of chiller modules with the help of Bilfinger Connected Asset Performance (BCAP).

The award is the first digitalisation project secured by Bilfinger Middle East in the region.

In Q4 2019, Babcock Borsig Service Arabia with the support of Bilfinger Digital Next, a corporate startup of leading industrial service provider Bilfinger, implemented a pilot project at a plant operated by Saudi Tabreed in Riyadh to evaluate the energy optimisation possibilities using the BCAP platform.

The insightful findings of this pilot project of more than one energy optimisation possibility build the confidence of Saudi Tabreed’s management to proceed with signing this new contract.

With BCAP, Bilfinger Digital Next offers operators of industrial plants a modular digitisation solution to gain insights from its isolated data. At its core, all data from the areas of engineering, operation, and maintenance of a plant is connected, processed, analysed, and visualised on a cloud-based platform.

For the new project, Saudi Tabreed has chosen the model that connects and operates one module with two chillers using BCAP recommendations, while a second module with two chillers will be connected, operated in a ‘normal way’ to compare it to the first module and gain insights into BCAP optimisation potential.

According to Franz Braun, Managing Director of Bilfinger Digital Next and Chief Digital Officer at Bilfinger: “Driving operational excellence through digitalisation requires a deep understanding of the processed data and the potential of these insights. By analysing the data in BCAP, we are able to gain more insights and to create a real business case for STOM.”

Meanwhile Jon Rokk, President and CEO, Bilfinger Middle East, stated: “This is a significant milestone for Bilfinger in the Middle East. We are confident of Bilfinger’s wide portfolio and we continue to offer Bilfinger’s digital solutions to our clients and provide unmatched industry knowledge, client experiences and subject matter experts to accelerate digital growth with end to end solutions.”

Also commenting was Adrian Duffy, Managing Director, Bilfinger KSA and Bahrain, who said: “Babcock Borsig Service Arabia continues to expand its core competencies and tap into potential opportunities within the Bilfinger group to offer the Saudi Market. We are delighted to partner with Saudi Tabreed as our first client for our digital solutions services in the region. Once the proof of concept is delivered it will enable Saudi Tabreed to expand the program for their facilities and demonstrate the potential savings Bilfinger can deliver across many sectors for other clients in the near future.”

“With the results of this project, Babcock Borsig Service Arabia hopes to continue and pursue an increased scope of work with other Saudi Tabreed plants to enhance energy efficiency in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision,” said Saleh Sharaf, Country Director - Business Development, Babcock Borsig Service Arabia. --Tradearabia News Service
