Leading companies from across the globe will showcase their latest innovative high-performance packaging materials and solutions at the 6th Specialty Packaging Films Asia conference, to be held next year in Thailand.

The event will take place on March 19 and 20, 2019, in Bangkok, and will bring together local and international perspectives on innovations in raw materials, films and converting and how they can be applied to add value, strengthen brands and improve consumer appeal.

Across the Asia Pacific region, consumer goods companies are demanding better packaging functionality, whilst utilising less resources. Consequently, flexible packaging processes and formats are being redesigned for optimum product quality, safety, cost and environmental impact.

These complex demands open up opportunities for innovative packaging materials such as ultra-thin high barrier, and new ways to address challenges such as recyclability and end of life management.

The conference will open with AMI Consulting and packaging converter TPBI Public Company sharing the latest market trends in flexible packaging in Asia and beyond.

Food contact safety is of critical importance, but it can be complicated to navigate and keep abreast of changing rules. Global consumer goods company Nestlé and law firm Keller and Heckman will take a detailed look at current regulations for food packaging safety and key considerations for all parts of the supply chain to understand.

With increasing public awareness and support of sustainable packaging initiatives in Asia, the pace of new developments is gathering momentum. Multinational food group PepsiCo Services Asia will talk about how to turn sustainability into a catalyst for innovation and the packaging division of Philippines-based Universal Robina Corporation will share an innovative disposal method it is using for flexible packaging waste.

Sustainable pack design will be explored by leading Thai converter TPN FlexPak and end of life options will be discussed by ExxonMobil Asia Pacific and recycling company Erema.

The enhancement of barrier properties in multilayer structures is also seeing significant development, helping boost shelf life and prevent product waste. Leading plastics processing experts including Nordmeccanica, Milliken, Ybarex and Kuraray will share new developments in high barrier film solutions, including advances in resins, metallisation and additives.

The conference also explores a number of innovative solutions in masterbatch, extrusion equipment, surface treatment and coating technologies designed to add value and improve packaging performance.

Esteemed speakers sharing their innovations include Brückner Maschinenbau, Alok Masterbatches, SRF, Vetaphone, Polytype Converting and Sabic, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
