The World Plastics Council’s (WPC) recently held a meeting of its executive committee in Dubai, UAE, and announced that James (Jim) Seward of LyondellBasell has been elected to be the next chairman of the council.

Seward succeeds previous chairman Abulrahman Al-Fageeh of Sabic, said a statement.

The WPC was founded in 2014 with the goal of becoming the plastic industry’s platform to accelerate cooperation and alignment, and to deliver improved outcomes for the benefit of society and the global plastics industry.

Al-Fageeh said: “The council is fortunate to have an exceptionally talented group of visionary executive leaders, and we are particularly pleased with the committee’s election of our colleague Seward as our next chair.”

“We look forward to leveraging his global perspective and deep enthusiasm for our industry to drive further success,” he added.

Seward added: “Under Al-Fageeh’s leadership the organisation has grown in numbers, we have engaged with global stakeholders, and we have delivered results.”
