Alstom has secured another important contract in Saudi Arabia following its selection by lead contractor Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to supply 4 x 720 MW steam turbine generator sets for the Shuqaiq project. The contract is valued at approximately 170 million euros ($230 million). The Shuqaiq plant is due to enter commercial operation in 2017.

Gas turbine engines for aircraft and power plants work more efficiently and burn less fuel when they run at temperatures high enough to melt metal.

Safran, whose world-leading helicopter engine business is Turbomeca, announced it has finalised the acquisition from Rolls-Royce of Rolls-Royce’s 50 per cent share in their joint RTM322 helicopter engine programme. The cash consideration for the transaction amounts to 293 million euros ($396.1 million).
