Ashtead Technology has developed a hire fleet of remote visual inspection (RVI) instrumentation for drainage-inspection tasks.

Designed specifically to investigate pipes and tunnels ranging from 300 mm to 1,200 mm in diameter, the Ipek Rovver 225 crawler inspection system features a camera and lighting unit that can be remotely raised and lowered to ensure optimum viewing conditions in any investigation.

The system is powered by two 40 W motors driving all six wheels and is fully operational even when submerged in up to 10 m of water.

The Ipek Rovver 225 is supplied with a DVD recorder so that colour footage can be studied both during and after inspection work.

Also available is the smaller Ipek Rovver 125, which can be used in pipes with diameters ranging from 150 mm to 450 mm in size.

This system is said to be ideal for drain inspection because of its durability and low maintenance requirements.

A range of pushrods and video pipeline inspection systems is also available for hire direct from Ashtead Technology to help provide a complete solution for a variety of drainage inspection needs.

In addition, GPR utility locators and personal gas detectors for confined-space entry are available for hire during inspection work.
