Samsung Electronics unveiled at Gitex Technology Week 2008 two new and powerful compact digital camcorders.

One of them, the VP-MX20, is developed with the aim of providing higher video quality with the videos ideal for uploading to YouTube. The other product is the VP-HMX20, equipped with a 1080p mode with 30 frames-per-second recording capability.
BJ Kim, general manager, AV Division, Samsung Gulf Electronics, said the company thought it important to provide customers with a camcorder that included a format for easily uploading to YouTube.

VP-MX20
According to Samsung, its VP-MX20 features the longest battery life in its class – up to three hours, applying H.264 Codec to SD camcorders. In the ‘fine’ mode, the MX-20 camcorder can record up to four hours of footage using an 8GB memory card, eight hours using a 16GB memory card, and up to 16 hours using a 32GB card. Samsung’s VP-MX20 with H.264 more than doubles the compression ratio so that it takes less time to send video files via email or upload them onto the internet.
“Focusing on high video quality, Samsung’s VP-MX20 with its new platform is packed with powerful technologies such as 3-D noise reduction technology for smooth video, Samsung’s own edge filter technology for video details and clarity, and colour control technology for original and natural colours,” it said.

VP-HMX20C
This device features full HD and a1080p mode with 30 frames-per-second recording capability, Samsung said.
“With the docking station, users can charge the VP-HMX20C and also utilise the HDMI input and component connectivity to easily view home movies directly on an HDTV.
“Furthermore, users are able to connect the VP-HMX20C to their laptop or PC via a USB connection and share their home movies with family and friends quickly and easily. The multifunctional HD camcorder delivers up to 8 mega pixels size through pixel-rising technology.”
The VP-HMX20C features a 6.4 mega pixel CMOS with electronic image stabilisation.
