The city is expanding to take in new tenants

Dubai Industrial City, a member of Tatweer and the third largest non-real estate project in Dubai, has commenced leasing nearly 2.8 million sq m of open storage yards to meet the huge demand from major automotive, equipment and construction companies.

Dubai Industrial City’s prime location adjacent to Dubai World Central’s Al Maktoum International Airport and its proximity to Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone as well as easy accessibility to major highways has contributed to an increasing demand for open storage yards.
Rashed Al Ansari, vice president, Dubai Industrial City, said: “We have so far leased 60 per cent of the allocated 2.8 million sq ft of land and are planning to increase the area for open storage. A demarcated option such as this is preferred over conventional storage and warehousing facilities by an increasing number of companies for storing their equipment and other items.
“We have been working closely with our clients to optimise utilisation of our land and offer services and facilities for their daily operational needs. Our flexible storage solutions will considerably help meet diverse market requirements while allowing us to directly contribute to bridging the shortage of storage facilities in Dubai.”
The open storage area will be managed by transPARK, the dedicated end-to-end logistics provider that operates under the umbrella of Dubai Industrial City. The logistics firm will ensure organised storage, inventory and logistics solutions for clients within the manufacturing hub.
The open storage yards are built to comply with the highest quality and finishing and provided with round-the-clock security. The yards boast adequate flood lights at night and a perimeter fence, as well as suitable landscaping.
“This is one of our dedicated services that complement our warehouse storage facilities,” said Al Ansari. “We aim to offer more such innovative solutions for the benefit of industrial investors in our endeavour to create an enabling destination for global brands,” the official added.
The 560 million sq ft dedicated industrial destination comprises six clusters featuring food and beverages, base metals, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment.
Complementary facilities for logistics, warehousing, labour zones and industrial training in addition to commercial, residential and entertainment zones, position Dubai Industrial City as a comprehensive one stop-shop destination. It provides tenants with a critical competitive advantage in human resources, logistics and business operations, a city statement said.
The city is expected to accommodate around 500,000 people when it is completed by 2015.
