The Asry facilities in Bahrain

The Arab Ship Building and Repair Yard (Asry) is forming a new company to specialise in repair and conversion work on specialist vessels and oil rigs.
Asry Offshore Services (AOS) will specialise specifically in the offshore oil and gas industries, undertaking work both onshore and offshore, be it fabrication work for platforms, life extension programmes for rigs and maintenance or repair work on offshore support vessels.
Asry has undertaken major contracts on a whole range of offshore vessels and has decided to establish a separate entity within the company to concentrate solely on this market.
Working within this established organisation, AOS will have the necessary space to fabricate a large range of components, which are required offshore on platforms.
It has the necessary workshops, skills and manpower resources to undertake major contracts, but will also have the capability to fabricate components and structures, such as flare booms and well head platforms as well as the overhaul and maintenance of specialist systems and equipment, which are required in the development of oil and gas fields.
The two new slipways will specifically target the needs of the offshore support vessel market.
They are ideally suited to handle all aspects of repair, maintenance and conversion work on these vessels.
AOS is already in discussion with a major multinational operator, which operates a fleet of pipelay, trenching and ROV vessels, with the intent that it will be based in Asry’s facility in Bahrain.
The objective is that AOS will become a hub for specialist service companies who wish to operate in the Gulf and a centre of excellence for the oil and gas companies working in the region.
AOS will be specifically targeting the major oil and gas producers as well as prime contractors who are building offshore structures.
