The company has the expertise to build a range of general and special engineering products

Fabtech International has grown beyond its fabricating bases in Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi with the establishment of new facilities at Dubai Investment Park.
The new facility at the park measures 9,586 sq m and specialises in the manufacture of steel gratings and platforms.
One of the company’s well known capabilities is land drilling rigs. Over the past five years it has built or refurbished 71 of these rigs, ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 HP, and has been involved with many major offshore jackup refurbishments, it says.
Fabtech also states it has built more than 30 derricks for jackups and semi-submersible rigs.
One of the highpoints in the company’s career was the manufacture in 2004 of what was considered at the time as the world’s biggest onshore rig. It was built in collaboration with Houston (US)-based National Oilwell for Kuwait Drilling Company and featured eight mud tanks, five generator sets and three mud pumps. The hook load capacity was 1.5 million pounds, height from the ground 211 ft and mud system capacity 3,500 barrels.
Fabtech offers a wide range of products.
Commenting on the services, general manager PK Shukla said: “In a major augmentation of our pressure vessel product offering, dished end  manufacturing capability has been increased to provide dimensional capabilities from 1 to 7 m in diameter and thickness of 6 to 40 mm.
“The plate rolling mill has capability to roll plate up to 5 m wide and 200 mm thick. Ship loaders and ship unloaders are of both pneumatic and continuous types (buckets or screw) and suitable for any kind of bulk-handling material. Grab loaders and grab unloaders come with a complete conveying system - from ship to silos or silos to ship. Stacker reclaimers are offered for bulk handling silos and bulk storage with a conveying system.  Port container cranes, RTG cranes, dockside cranes and gantry cranes are manufactured under licence.”
Steel gratings and platforms manufactured at Fabtech Technical Services are customised to meet individual client’s requirements without compromising quality, assured Shukla.
“The plate rolling capabilities open the door for Fabtech’s participation in process and storage requirements not only in traditional industries but in emerging energy-related technologies as well,” a company statement said.
Fabtech Abu Dhabi can produce 14,000 tonnes of structural steel per year based on two shifts. The facility has delivered steel products to authorities including Adgas, Adnoc, Adma, Qatar Petroleum and Schlumberger.
“Fabtech is arguably the most diversified company of its size in the world.  It has delivered successful projects to virtually every manufacturing segment on both hemispheres of the globe.  We will continue to focus on profitable growth of our business.  Our various certifications, including ISO 9001, have established Fabtech as a viable manufacturing and business partner for EPC contractors and end users alike,” the statement added.
Shukla highlighted that Fabtech had demonstrated its ability to successfully execute diverse and complex engineering projects and continued to move full steam ahead. “Most recently we successfully completed a complex 2,000-tonne Secondary Arch structure, a major component of the 845-meter-long Sheikh Zayed crossing connecting Abu Dhabi Island with the mainland,” he pointed out.
Among projects it completed recently are ones related to a new engineering centre at Dubai International Airport, the British School at Al Khuberat, Al Jazeera Club Stadium and fuel storage tanks at Al Dhafra Air Base.
The company achieved sales of $25 million in the first half of this year. Sales for the whole of last year were $45 million compared with $35 million in the previous year.
