Aluminium extrusion plant opens

Dubai-based Gulf General Investment Company (GGICO) officially inaugurated one of the largest aluminium extrusion factories in the region at an opening ceremony attended by the vice chairman of Dubai Aluminium, Ahmed Humeid Al Tayer.

National Aluminium Extrusion LLC (Nalexco) is a 400,000 sq ft factory with a production capacity of 15,000 tonnes per year (tpy).
GGICO managing director Mohammed Abdalla Al Sari said the inauguration signified the beginning of Phase one of the Nalexco project.
“We are expecting an annual turnover of Dh200 million ($54.4 million) – Dh220 million during this first phase and we expect to jump to Dh330 million by the end of the second and final stage,” he said. “Along with this, we are currently employing 150 staff, made up of western and Arab experts, which will rise to 200 at the final phase.”
Nalexco’s next phase will see a third extrusion line installed, raising the factory’s capacity to 22,000 tonnes per year accompanied with a double vertical powder quoting line of 25,000-tonne capacity per year.
Located at Dubai investment Park, Nalexco utilises the latest in cutting edge aluminium extrusion technology with a focus on quality, the company said.
Outside of the UAE, GGICO has another factory of a similar size being prepared in Jordan, and the company is studying market opportunities and requirements in the greater GCC area, particularly in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
