Jubail Industrial City’s National Metal Manufacturing and Casting Co (Maadaniyah) made a good start this year with sales in the first quarter soaring 59 per cent to SR113 million ($30.1 million) compared with the corresponding period of 2007 and net profits tripling to SR17.3 million.

The quarter’s net profits were close to what was achieved in the whole of 2007.
The company had recorded a 29.7 per cent increase in revenues to SR369.3 million for full-year 2007 and net profits jumped 15.10 per cent to SR20.6 million.
In a decision earlier this year, the capital was increased from SR 163.5 million to SR 204.4 million through the issue of five bonus shares for four.
Madaniyah produces over 60,000 tonnes of steel wire and wire products for industries related to construction, appliances, electrical cables, building systems, steel fabrication, furniture and wooden pallets.
Production is carried out through lines dedicated to wire-drawing, PC strands, galvanising, wet drawing, ACSR stranding and PC strands.
“Over the years, Madaniyah has continually strived to improve its processes and develop its human resources to enable itself to provide total customer satisfaction and achieve a competitive edge,” said a company spokesman.
The company obtained a quality assurance system certification compliant with ISO 9002:1994 in 1995 and was re-certified for ISO 9001:2000 in 2002.
Commenting on quality assurance, the spokesman said there was careful scrutiny of all incoming raw material used in the production process. “Supliers are carefully scrutinised based on their proven abilities to provide consistently high-quality products, and an annual evaluation of all suppliers is performed for control,” he said.
“In-process and final product inspection is meticulously done with strict sampling plans to monitor and control quality with systematic data records for product traceablility.
“Measurements and evaluations typical of a self-control process are also periodically carried out. There are dimensional checks and tests for low relaxation, bending, torsion, fatigue, tensile and coatings.
“The QA department has a well-equipped metrology wing for weighing and measuring. Calibration of measuring equipment and tools is carried out through a well-documented calibration schedule to maintain reliability and quality of the manufactured products. “The company has another wing, namely a Quality Control Laboratory with modern facilities for performing chemical and mechanical tests besides spectrometric analysis for verification of material chemical compositions.
