DC radio control

Demag, Germany, has introduced a host of handling-technology products designed for maximum efficiency in applications they will serve.

The new machines include monorails, suspension cranes and slewing jibs and cranes as well as hoists with associated radio control systems.
The company provided descriptions for each of the new products, namely KBK suspension monorails, KBK single or double-girder suspension cranes, Demag slewing jibs and cranes, the DC-Pro chain hoist and DRC-DC radio control systems.

KBK suspension monorails
They offer outstanding versatility, according to the company. A wide range of components makes it possible to adapt the route precisely to meet the structural requirements of the workshop. At the same time, the system ensures that all specific product and workplace requirements of the production facility are met.
Transfer between suspension monorails and single-girder suspension cranes is also possible using latching devices.
The special profiles of the KBK system are particularly suitable for applications such as tracks for load balancers fitted with testing devices and electric and pneumatic tools etc and power supply lines for cranes and other mobile equipment.
Cable trolleys can also be used for suspending hoses for transporting fluids or gases.
KBK classic suspension monorails can be built to almost any design: from simple, manually controlled straight sections to complex, semi- or fully automated closed-circuit monorail systems, Demag says.

KBK single or double-girder suspension cranes
Demag specifies that the characteristics of these cranes are favourable dimensions and low deadweight
Single-girder suspension cranes from the KBK classic construction kit enable the user to achieve fast and reliable area-serving overhead handling and exact positioning of a wide variety of goods, the company says.
KBK classic single-girder suspension cranes can be simply suspended from the building roof or superstructure. Additional supports for the crane runway are not necessary. Even partial areas of a workshop may be easily fitted with suspension cranes at low cost, it explains.
“KBK single-girder overhead travelling cranes can be easily moved by hand thanks to their low deadweight and smooth-running trolleys. They ensure that heavy and awkward workpieces can also be handled safely and reliably.”
They offer large lifting heights, spans and high load capacities. Double-girder suspension cranes from the KBK classic construction kit feature a low deadweight and favourable structural dimensions. In addition, the pendulating suspension largely absorbs the horizontal forces caused by starting, braking and stopping. Double-girder suspension cranes can even be installed in buildings of light steel construction.
Arrangement of the hoist unit between the two crane girders provides KBK classic double-girder cranes with a greater useful lifting height, Demag says.
KBK classic double-girder cranes can also operate on several runways, thus providing large spans to cover extensive storage and production areas. The cranes can be easily moved by hand. However, the company recommends electric friction wheel travel drives from the KBK crane construction kit for spans greater than 6 m and load capacities exceeding 500 kg.

Demag slewing jibs and cranes
The company describes them as a cost-saving addition to integrated handling systems. “In some cases, this handling equipment is often the most economical solution. This applies to storage yards, loading ramps or buildings where other equipment cannot be installed due to structural limitations,” it says.
The company listed the benefits from Demag pillar and wall-mounted slewing jib cranes as improved ease of operation, maximum operating safety, easy assembly, delivery including complete electrical equipment and lockable mains connection switch.

DC-Pro chain hoist
Demag says this newly developed product meets its own high standards in terms of quality and innovation. “At the same time, we also provide what you expect from the market leader. The Demag DC-Pro chain hoist enables you to achieve high productivity by means of smooth and sensitive handling.”
The DC-Pro can be operated in two variants: as the DC chain hoist with a DSC control pendant or as the DCM-Pro Manulift for quickly handling loads with only one hand. A variety of proven load-handling attachments facilitate optimum and flexible adaptation of the chain hoist to meet the needs of the user’s application.
The benefits listed by the company are: Two lifting speeds as standard, higher performance, “all inclusive” features in the standard version at no extra cost, “Plug & Lift” - all connections are simply plugged in greater ergonomics and even longer service life with main parts requiring no maintenance for up to 10 years.
The benefits include service friendly operations: all relevant components are integrated beneath a cover; monitored brake/clutch system - no load slipping or dropping, rapid replacement of the chain drive without having to remove the motor or gear parts, first control pendant switch for chain hoists with variable adjustment of the position and clear overview of the relevant operating parameters by means of dialogue interface and elapsed operating time counter.
Demag DC chain hoists can be conveniently controlled from any position using the DRC-DC radio remote control system.
The DC-Pro chain hoists and DCM-Pro Manulift units can be integrated into the Demag KBK crane construction kit. The new Demag chain hoist develops its full performance on the U 11 trolley.
