Srinivasan: committed to the region

Dewalt will launch this year in the Middle East several advanced products including a complete range of cordless compact impact wrenches and drivers and the 18 V nano technology lithium ion platform.

“The impact drivers and wrenches are ideal for steel framers, electricians, cabinet installers, deck builders and HVAC and wet and dry mechanical contractors who need a compact tool for self-drilling metal screws, setting wood and lag screws, spade bit drilling (up to one inch) and a wide range of nut/bolt combinations,” said Dewalt’s Middle East and Africa marketing manager Suresh Srinivasan.
The impact drivers and wrenches are equipped with a high-speed Dewalt-designed frameless motor with long-life replaceable brushes, providing users with high performance, durability and serviceability. The frameless motor design benefits from increased airflow and provides more power, enabling users to complete a wide range of fastening applications. Additionally, Dewalt reduced the overall length, creating a compact, lightweight tool that allows users to access tighter areas and easily complete overhead applications.
Commenting on the 18 V nano technology lithium ion platform, Srinivasan said it offered all the power, performance and durability of 18 volts with a dramatic reduction in weight.
“The good news for existing 18 volt users is that the battery technology is backwards compatible, so there are now two battery options for one system. This gives access to over 30 tools in the range,” he said.
In the past two years, Dewalt has introduced over 150 new products worldwide.
Last year it launched its revolutionary nano-phosphate battery technology, exclusively licensed from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and which exceeds performance levels of any existing lithium cell formulas available for power tools.
The 36 V cordless tools specifically have been developed ground-up, featuring new exciting features that will further enhance professional end user productivity on job sites.
“The 36 V system strategy follows the long-standing Dewalt success story to expand cordless solutions into the far larger electric power tool market by allowing professional end users to retire their existing electrical tools,” said Srinivasan.
Nano phosphate battery technology is also available in platforms of other voltages.
Dewalt has five state-of-the-art design centres worldwide to provide innovation and productive jobsite solutions and 15 manufacturing plants worldwide. It specialises in power tools that serve the construction and industrial segments.
Among its products is the widest range of portable hammer drills with the lowest vibration including 2 kg compact hammers and the 30 kg pavement breaker.
For the Middle East and Africa markets, Dewalt has invested in a state-of-the-art distribution centre along with a fully equipped training centre in Jebel Ali, Dubai.
The company has also invested in a team of trained product and application specialists to service job sites anywhere in the region.
“The Middle East is one of the fastest growing regions in the world and residential and commercial construction along with oil and gas projects are driving demand for power tools. Contractors today demand not only highly productive tools, but speed and convenience in the way they are serviced so they are able complete their projects on time,” observed Srinivasan.
“To address these challenges Dewalt has established an efficient distribution centre that runs on SAP enterprise resource planning software to forecast and plan logistics that can support the distribution network.
“Our commitment to this region is very high and with the 13,000 sq m facility in Jebel Ali our investment in this area is quite significant. We have a one of the largest after sales service networks in the Gulf. Response times are very important, especially with the number of jobs underway here and the speed of construction. We are able to meet these needs through our service agents. The field product specialists ensure that the right tool and accessory are offered for the right application through onsite demonstrations and field tests. An on-site tool pickup service is offered to key customers on various project sites.”
