Belden’s bundles deliver optimum signal transmission for MATV and SMATV

US-based Belden has extended the range of its highly popular CATV cables with three easy-to-install bundles that deliver optimum signal transmission for MATV and SMATV.

These multicore cables are designed for use by CATV installers and system integrators in MATV/SMATV, CATV distribution systems and multi-switch systems for satellite TV and/or terrestrial systems. These systems provide a flexible, cost-effective way of delivering satellite signals to a wide range of users in residential, public and commercial buildings. They also support loop-through for terrestrial signals which means that satellite TV can be added to a terrestrial distribution system.
Belden’s CATV multicore cables deliver optimum performance in multi-switch systems and reduce installation time. They have the 0.8/3.5 mm dimensions commonly found in European coaxial cables. Three types are available with bundles of 3, 5 and 9, all of which are with 250 and 500 m put-ups. The cables have solid 0.8 mm care core conductors with gas-injected polyethylene insulation. The shielding is Duofoil combined with a 40 per cent tinned copper braid while individual coax jackets and the overall jacket are white FRNC/LSNH.  Flexible halogen-free plastic is used to overcome the problem of bundled halogen-free cables which are notoriously stiff and difficult to strip, particularly when they have to comply with IEC 60332-I.
Werner Eich, Belden EMEA marketing manager for Entertainment says: “Any cable that saves installation time, improves performance and is cost-effective greatly assists installers.”
CATV multicore cables can be used indoors or outdoors and are cold flexible up to -25°C. Low attenuation over long distance is achieved by their solid copper centre conductor, the use of high velocity, low loss PE and foil under braid shielding, which also make termination easier.
They offer a minimum return loss of 18 dB between 470 to 1000 MHz and deliver CATV standard. The halogen-free plastic complies with IEC 60332-1 and means no toxic gas and low smoke density with fire.
