Al-Rashed Steel Products Manufacturing took another step forward with the opening of a new industrial complex in Dammam’s Second Industrial City.

This follows a decision by the company to move its production facilities from Al Khobar to the new site in Dammam.
In addition to the existing range of products, the new facility will produce pre-stressed concrete wire strands, with an annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes. Capacities of the existing range will be boosted at the Dammam complex, and several new products such as spring wires and sleeper wires, which are already in the pipeline, will be introduced there.
The shifting of the production facility has not only boosted the capacities of the existing range of products of Al-Rashed Steel but also led to the introduction of new products such as spring wires and sleeper wires which are in the pipeline.
Executive director Mohsen Al Rashed called the new complex “a new achievement for the group” during a speech he gave at the inauguration in the presence of a number of businessmen and group customers.  He said it was the result of planning studies aimed at catching up with the overall development going on in Saudi Arabia under the leadership of King Abdullah and his deputies.
With a quarter century of expertise behind it, Al Rashed Steel Products Manufacturing Company is considered a stalwart in its field in this region.
Vasu, the general manager of Al-Rashed Steel, giving a background of the company, said the factory was established in 1982 with a production capacity of 17,000 tonnes per year.  The capacity had now reached 150,000 tpy.  The new unit of 30,000 tonnes annually for PC strand will be joined by another line before the end of next year to raise capacity to 60,000 tonnes.
“We have earned a good reputation in local and foreign markets”, says marketing manager Ala Eddin Kilani.
The company is regarded as one of the region’s leading manufacturers for a host of steel products including galvanised wires, steel bars, welded wire mesh, galvanised wire mesh, barbed wires, PVC-coated wires, galvanised and PVC-coated chain link fences, black annealed wires, bailing wires and block mesh, among other items.
Al-Rashed Steel also manufactures various types of steel sheets such as pre-painted corrugated, galvanised, cut to length hot and cold rolled sheets and various grades of plain steel sheets.
Additionally, it provides services for cutting and bending of deformed steel bars. Kilani stresses that the manufacturing process uses the latest technology. The production machines are computer-controlled, which assures accuracy and eventually quality products. The quality control laboratory is fully equipped to carry out tests on all its products to determine compliance with the required standards. The company has been certified for the quality system ISO-9001:2000 since 1995.
A company-owned transportation fleet assures prompt delivery to all customers.
These steps and procedures have resulted in big cost savings, Kilani says. Al-Rashed Steel Products has established a strong sales network with offices in Dammam, Al Hassa, Jubail, Riyadh, Jeddah and other places.
