Emirates Shipping Line has announced that its operations have grown by 30 per cent since its inception in 2006 and attributes its success to eight new services launched during the past year.

As a result, the company, which is registered in Dubai Maritime City and commercially headquartered in Dubai and Hong Kong, is on track to double its container capacity within the next two years and boost its agency network, which currently spans more than 40 countries.
The announcement comes only weeks after the company’s CEO and chairman - Vikas Khan - received the ‘Personality of the Year’ Award granted by Dubai Ports World at the Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards 2007, which were held recently in Dubai. The Personality of the Year Award recognises individuals for their contributions to the maritime industry.
The award was presented to Vikas Khan by Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, executive vice chairman of DP World & Group, who sponsored this category at the gala dinner attended by over 1,000 delegates from all sectors of the international maritime community.
The honour is another milestone for the company, which has already received three nominations for coveted industry awards during 2007, including the ‘Container Shipping Line of the Year’ in the Lloyds List Asia Awards; ‘Shipping Line of the Year’ in the Supply Chain Asia-Logistics Award; and ‘Shipping Company of the Year’ in the Lloyd’s List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Shipping Awards.
Speaking during the occasion, Khan stated that the achievement was made possible only by the outstanding team work of all colleagues of Emirates Shipping Line, and that the award would act as a motivator to pursue even higher service standards.
