Saudi Arabian Sensing Solutions Co (Sassco), the joint company formed by GE Sensing and the Tamimi Group, has opened its new sales, service and training centre in Al Khobar.

The opening of the centre further demonstrates GE’s commitment to on-going, significant investment in the kingdom, a statement said.
The opening event hosted invited guests from all regions and industrial sectors in Saudi Arabia and was supported by senior management from both GE and Tamimi. Also on hand were a number of international experts to explain the latest developments in technology and instrumentation at simultaneous presentations.
Demonstrations of the latest commercially available products for measuring flow, press and gas and moisture were available, as well as overviews of the wide range of NDT (non-destructive testing) services offered by Sassco.
The new facility forms the sales hub for the company’s activities in the Kingdom, and sets the platform for creating a dedicated calibration, repair and training centre. It offers state-of-the-art calibration equipment for pressure and moisture sensors, and is the only resource-centre in the region capable of calibrating the Panametrics range of moisture meters, said an official spokesman.
The centre provides on-site repair service for these products and can upgrade existing customer equipment by the fitting of a specific manufacturer’s software.
Training from GE Sensing and GE Inspection Technologies is an important function at the centre. Typical NDT courses cover the use of GE’s ultrasonic, remote visual inspection, radiography and eddy current equipment.
In addition, the centre provides a base for GE’s qualified field services personnel and has the capability to carry out basic repairs on simple NDT equipment such as flaw detectors.
“The industrial infrastructure of Saudi Arabia relies very heavily on sensing instrumentation for pressure, temperature, moisture, gas and flow. It also depends on non-destructive testing to provide safe asset management and maintain production outputs,” said Sassco general manager Mohannad Labadi.
“Sassco is resourced and focused to provide solutions in both sensing and inspection. The creation of our new sales, service and training centre ensures that we are now even closer in providing expertise and support in both technologies to our customers in the kingdom,” he added.
