The General Organisation of Sea Ports Bahrain (GOP) and APM Terminals are the latest organisations to join the growing list of exhibitors at the Gulf Industry Fair 2008.

The fair will be held at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from January 15 - 17, 2008.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ebrahim Hassan Al Hasser, director general of GOP, said: “Our objective in exhibiting at the Gulf Industry Fair 2008 together with APM Terminals is to promote the GOP and highlight the role of our organisation as a regulator for the maritime and logistics sector. In addition, we are looking forward to promoting the Khalifa bin Salman Port which will be opening in the third quarter of 2008.”
Iain Rawlinson, general manager for APM Terminals, added: “Our presence at the Gulf Industry Fair 2008 provides us with the opportunity to advise investors of APM’s position as a core part of the infrastructure of Bahrain and also to explain the services we offer to the industrial sector in the region. We consider Bahrain to be the gateway to the upper Gulf region and our interest is to help stimulate more interest from investors which in turn will lead to more cargo channelled through the port.”
Wael Mirza, public relations manager of GOP, said the combination of GOP and APM Terminals presenting themselves at the Gulf Industry Fair 2008 is a working formula. Bahrain’s strategic development as a logistics hub of the northern Gulf will be well received by organisations involved in the logistics and industrial sectors, he said.
The managing director of Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions, Jubran Abdulrahman, said: “We are delighted that GOP and APM Terminals have agreed to jointly book such a significant stand space at the Gulf Industry Fair 2008. Their commitment to the exhibition is a reflection of the confidence and belief in the development of Bahrain as a vital hub for the maritime and logistics sectors of the region. The Gulf Industry Fair will provide them with an ideal platform to promote their specialised services to vitally interested market segments - the Gulf’s industrial professionals as well as individuals and organisations involved in the region’s maritime and logistics sectors.”
APM Terminals has been awarded a 25-year contract to operate Bahrain’s commercial ports, namely Mina Salman and Mina Khalifa Bin Salman. Work on the latter port is underway and it will be completed in late 2008.
