Packaging industry IT hiring activity rises

IT jobs in the Middle East and Africa’s packaging industry are much in demand

Middle East & Africa (MEA) witnessed a 20.3 per cent rise in IT hiring activity in the packaging industry in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

February 2022 has seen an increase of 9.39 per cent in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022, a report by packaging-gateway.com said.

IT jobs accounted for a 2.76 per cent share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 0.31 per cent over the last three-month average share.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 40.91 per cent in February 2022, a flat growth over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 31.82 per cent in February 2022, marking a 22.22 per cent month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.64 per cent in February 2022, a 62.5 per cent drop from January 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 9.09 per cent in February 2022, a 100 per cent rise over the previous month.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 128.57 per cent in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s packaging industry during February 2022 over previous month.

Egypt commanded a leading presence in the region’s packaging industry IT hiring activity with a 45.45 per cent share in February 2022, a 400 per cent increase over January 2022. South Africa featured next with a 31.82 per cent share, down 56.25 per cent over the previous month. Algeria recorded a 4.55 per cent share, a flat growth compared with January 2022.

Junior level jobs held a share of 77.27 per cent, down by 10.53 per cent from January 2022. Mid-level positions with an 18.18 per cent share, registered a decline of 33.33 per cent compared with the previous month. In the third place was entry level job ads with a 4.55 per cent share, down 66.67 per cent over January 2022.
