Power management company Eaton said it has signed an agreement to acquire Tripp Lite, a leading supplier of power quality products and connectivity solutions including single-phase uninterruptible power supply systems, rack power distribution units, surge protectors, and enclosures for data centres, industrial, medical, and communications markets across the global.

Founded nearly 100 years ago, the company, which has its headquarters in Chicago, US, sells products to customers in more than 175 countries and boasts a 93,000-strong workforce.

On the company move, Eaton Middle East Managing Director Ashraf Yehia said: “This important acquisition will strengthen our power quality portfolio as Tripp Lite specialises in data centre infrastructure and power offerings including UPS, battery packs, UPS battery backups, power distribution units and a broad portfolio of data centre hardware.”

The acquisition, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close mid-2021, he added.
